TEMPOS: QoS Management Middleware for Edge Cloud Computing FaaS in the Internet of Things

Several classes of advanced Internet Things (IoT) applications, e.g., in the industrial manufacturing domain, call for Quality Service (QoS) management to guarantee/control performance indicators, even presence many sources “stochastic noise” real deployment environments, from scarcely available bandwidth a time window concurrent usage virtualized processing resources. This paper proposes novel IoT-oriented middleware that i) considers and coordinates together different aspects QoS monitoring, control, kinds resources (from networking processing) holistic way, ii) specifically targets environments where edge cloud are employed enable Serverless paradigm continuum. The reported experimental results show how it is possible achieve desired differentiation by coordinating heterogeneous mechanisms technologies already market. demonstrates feasibility effective QoS-aware cloud-to-things continuum when considering provisioning scenario, which completely original related literature best our knowledge.
